What is a co-host?

Co-hosts help manage STVRs and perform tasks delegated to them by the property owner.

A short-term vacation rental (STVR) co-host is someone who assists property owners in managing their STVR.  This can include a variety of tasks such as handling guest communications, setting prices and availability, managing bookings, overseeing cleaning and maintenance, and ensuring that guests have a pleasant stay.  Co-hosts can be family members, friends, other hosts, or a professional service.

Co-hosting can be particularly useful for owners who live out of town, have a single "side hustle" listing, lack the time to manage all aspects of their STVR, or have multiple listings.   Co-hosting allows owners to delegate responsibilities they don't want, or don't have time to do, while ensuring their STVR is well-maintained, and guests are taken care of.

If you're considering hiring a co-host, consider your STVR goals and expectations.  Decide what level of involvement you want to maintain, and what you expect from a co-host.  You'll want to consider how much you're willing to pay to have someone co-host, as co-hosts typically charge between 10-25% of gross bookings, depending on the services they provide.  Having a clear picture of what you expect and what a co-host can offer can help ensure a successful and smooth operation for both you and your guests.
